Snake or venomous insect bite

Vietnam has pit vipers, cobras and hornets. Venom reactions and anaphylaxis can develop within 30 minutes.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Anaphylaxis (bee sting, vaccine, medication, food)

A severe allergic reaction — fatal within 15-30 minutes if untreated.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Heatstroke

Body temperature above 40°C — a real risk in Ho Chi Minh City's hot season and for flat-faced breeds (Pug/Bulldog/Persian).

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Seizures (epilepsy)

A seizure lasting over 5 minutes OR more than 3 seizures in 24h is an emergency (status epilepticus).

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Food poisoning (chocolate, onion, grapes)

Your pet has eaten chocolate, onion, garlic or grapes — what you do in the first 1-2 hours matters enormously.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Rodenticide / pesticide poisoning

Extremely dangerous. There are many types of poison and each needs a different antidote — bring the packaging.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Choking on an object (bone, toy, string)

The airway is blocked. You have 2-3 minutes to clear it before the brain runs short of oxygen.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

CPR for dogs and cats (breathing or heart has stopped)

When breathing or the heart stops — CPR buys time to reach the vet. Start within 4 minutes.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Severe bleeding (severed artery / deep wound)

Blood spurting in jets, or still flowing after 5 minutes of pressure — an artery may be cut.

🐶 Dog · 🐱 Cat

Fractures / heavy impact (hit by a vehicle, fall from height)

Even if your pet looks fine — internal injuries can show up later. Always get a vet check.
